About the OPPORTUNITY
We have exciting opportunities for Structural Engineers to join our Hunter Class Frigate program based in Adelaide or Melbourne, reporting to the Structures Engineering Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
As a Structural Engineer you will provide structural engineering services that are accurate, safe, and to approved standards for the development or modification of naval structural arrangements and/or materials.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop structural concepts and detailed designs
- Resolve a range of engineering issues and problems, compile technical reports and accompanying presentations
- Provide, review and adhere to specifications in accordance with stakeholder requirements. Check drawings and design artefacts
- Coaching, mentoring and assisting others on matters pertaining to the structural engineering discipline area
- Undertake Structural system and/ or equipment requirements analysis and participate in requirements reviews
- Develop optimised Structural arrangements and/ or equipment detail designs
- Undertake integration and validation of the Structural arrangements and/or equipment design
- Contribute to the integration and validation plans and reports
- Utilise design capture and analysis tools effectively to produce high quality designs and products including interpretation of analysis results
About YOU
- Qualification in Structural/Mechanical /Aerospace/Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture
- Demonstrated experience in Fundamental Structural Engineering including participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of solutions, their integration, validation and qualification testing
- Demonstrated experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Structural & Mechanical Designing and Equipment Integration
