Passionate people work at BAE Systems and the team contributes to something really big – the defence of Australia.  An opportunity has arisen for a passionate Flight Dynamics/Guidance Navigation Control Engineer to join our Aerospace business.  This key role will be based at our Richmond office and will be offered on a permanent and full time basis.

As a Flight Dynamics/Guidance Navigation Control Engineer, you will:

• Support the engineering team with the analysis, simulation and modelling to ensure an integrated and systems orientated approach is taken with respect to the project engineering development and verification activities

• Perform system engineering activities including requirements management, functional analysis, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, system tests, acceptance tests and certification

• Undertake the analysis of simulations and models to define and characterise the system and its components

• Develop and execute system and component tests to ensure that the implemented designs conform to their specifications

• Undertake the verification and validation of the models

• Provide engineering status and metrics reporting

• Maintain the design and documentation in accordance with configuration management, change management and traceability processes

• Independently review peers' work, identify technical risks and unknowns and support planning activities

As an ideal applicant you will have:

• An engineering degree qualification coupled with relevant experience or knowledge in flight dynamics/guidance navigation control engineering

• Experience/knowledge in the development and verification of real-time navigation or guidance and control systems

• An understanding of modern control system methodologies and the engineering development lifecycle

• Experience developing systems using technologies/processes such as mathematical modelling of physical systems/algorithm designs, modelling languages such as MATLAB and a basic understanding of software development languages

• Self-motivation and a proactive approach to progressing all assigned tasks

Whilst not essential, completion of a PHD in aerospace flight control and dynamics, aerospace and aerodynamics or robotics and automation will be highly regarded.

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
