PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

BAE Systems is Australia's most versatile Defence and Security Company. The Maritime Support Services business provides comprehensive through-life-support services for naval and marine ships and systems with sites in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.


As the Project Accountant, you will support the NSW Maritime Sustainment projects in maintaining the integrity and transparency of financial data and will provide assistance where required to the Senior project accountant.

In more specific terms, you will:
• Prepare the monthly contract status reports for management
• Prepare the monthly customer reporting
• Assist with providing audit documentation for customer review
• Provide reporting on utilisation for the Technical Services group
• Support month end tasks including determining/entering revenue trading amounts and preparing End of Month journals (Project to Project / Accruals/ and Corrections)
• Conduct weekly cash forecasting and follow up on on-hold invoices
• Assist in preparing the annual budget and monthly forecast updates
• Ensure compliance with corporate guidelines, policies and procedures, as well as accounting standards and legislations

As the ideal candidate, you will have:
• A degree qualification in finance or a related discipline
• Be CPA or CA qualified or working towards finalisation 
• Excellent communication skills in order to work effectively with the customer, internal stakeholders and team members
• Demonstrated self-management skills and ability to work under own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standard and Australian International Framework of Reporting Standards
• Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Whilst not essential, experience with the Oracle ERP system (or similar) or exposure to Hyperion is desirable
