Systems Administrator / Team Leader

Looking for a dynamic and passionate Team Leader with extensive experience in customer and stakeholder management, and providing critical systems administration related duties. You contribution to the team will include

  • Leading and managing a small team providing Level 2 support to users, including problem resolution
  • Providing guidance to technical leads and customers during the analysis, development and resource planning of projects
  • Advising and leading recommendations on leveraging both existing and new systems and technologies for customer benefit
  • Developing overall team skills and technical performance to drive specific support objectives that are aligned to business goals, resulting in maximum customer benefit
  • Contributing to short and long term resource planning
  • Liaising with senior defence officers to ensure support efforts are correctly focused
  • Training existing team members in supporting unique applications
  • Training Canberra-based resources in supporting unique applications
  • Day-to-Day Administration of Unix and Windows applications
  • System Administration of the Unix and Windows platforms and data storage sub systems to meet Information Systems governance and functional requirements
  • Administration of systems and user accounts for the Unix and Windows Servers
  • Backup Administration of the Unix and Windows Servers in line with Support Services policy and procedure
  • Assisting with the planning and design, in both the team and as an individual, to ensure the Computing platform infrastructure is fully documented and supportable
  • Liaising with vendors, for maintenance support of Unix and Windows server hardware / software for repair and replacement
  • Ensuring effective data protection measures are implemented for the Unix and Windows Servers. Technical Investigations

As the ideal applicant, you will have

  • Significant experience in either Windows 2008/2012 server, Solaris 10 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with a preference for Solaris 10
  • Experience in SQL2008 and VMware is desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information articulately, work under pressure, and manage conflict and influence stakeholders and tailor messages to audience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team of permanent and contractor staff
  • Must hold Negative Vetting Level 2 Security Clearance
