At BAE Systems we believe in giving our people inspired work now and into the future. We are seeking to appoint a self-driven Senior Naval Architect to join our engineering team based at our office in Williamstown on a permanent and full time basis. Are you up for the challenge? 

As the Senior Naval Architect, you will:

* Design and develop naval architecture aspects of vessel design to achieve the required business performance

* Manage the design, development and implementation of naval architecture aspects of whole ship, system and subsystem components along with testing and integrating the associated systems and subsystems

* Derive naval architecture related system requirements, define the test requirements and participate in system design and system requirements reviews

* Develop candidate solutions against requirements including their optimisation and present the solution in design reviews

* Undertake naval architecture related system and equipment detailed design analysis to identify the optimum design for the defined system and equipment architecture

* Translate the naval architecture system and equipment design into a manufacturable product and incorporate design for manufacture factors

* Perform the full qualification of the naval architecture specific system products including devising solutions to the qualification problems

* Ensure all naval architecture documents and artefacts are completed and managed in accordance with the appropriate standard procedures and work instructions

As an ideal applicant you will have:

* Extensive naval architecture experience combined with a naval architecture tertiary degree

* Experience in a variety of design analysis techniques and development tools including ship stability, structural analysis, weight and moment control, platform system integration, resistance and propulsion, classification and statutory regulation, and manoeuvring analysis

* The ability to negotiate with and influence internal and external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships

* A self-driven attitude with the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
