Systems Administrator

  • Install, configure and maintain systems and infrastructure
  • Based in Canberra, ACT

The Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting in the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of computing, messaging systems and infrastructure in project and/or support teams. The role will include design and implementation of changes as required to meet new operational needs and to address obsolescence issues that are identified.

You contribution to the team will include:

  • Supporting maintenance and change control of the system, including:
    • Active Directory
    • User Management
    • Virtual Server Management (vCentre/vSphere)
    • General Server and Storage Administration and Maintenance
    • Patch Management
    • Contribute to maintenance of system security accreditation
    • Monitor SIEM product
    • Communicating with stakeholders
    • Resolving assigned support incidents
  • Supporting the development of Engineering Change Proposals for design changes to the system
  • Providing advice to the Change Control Board for proposed changes
  • Proactively identifying and analysing system obsolescence
  • Maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity strategies and systems in place to protect the ongoing availability of the network systems
  • Undertaking out-of-standard-hours activity from time to time for high priority incidents

As the ideal applicant, you will have:

  • Significant experience in an IT customer service or technical role with a demonstrated ability to manage and support the relevant computing systems
  • Experience in systems administration and support of a heterogeneous (Windows/UNIX) environment
  • Experience in the deployment, testing, and support of a complex client/server application environment
  • Experience in providing guidance on systems to colleagues, internal stakeholders and customers
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Information Technology or Engineering
  • ITIL Foundation Certification and Vendor Certification, an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must hold Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance
