About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Surface Finisher to join our Lead-In Fighter team at Williamtown, NSW. This permanent, full-time waged position will commence in early 2025 and reports to the Structures Team Leader.
As an Aircraft Surface Finisher, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the appearance, durability, and compliance of aircraft and ensure all work meets industry standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The successful applicant will have a strong background in Surface Finishing, with either experience in the aviation sector working on aircraft or relevant industries involving surface finishing, paint, repairs, and remediation activities.
Key RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify surface repair needs and conduct paint survey inspections during aircraft planned inductions.
- Perform surface finishing tasks, including paint stripping, touch-ups, and corrosion remediation on and off aircraft to meet airworthiness standards.
- Prepare aircraft and components for finishing, including sanding, cleaning, and masking.
- Apply paint, rain erosion coatings, decals and stencils following approved maintenance data.
- Maintain and operate spray-painting equipment in compliance with regulations.
- Manage consumable materials and tools for surface finishing tasks including monitoring stock levels.
- Perform and certify for maintenance within delegated and authorised levels within computer-based maintenance documentation.
About YOU
- Relevant trade-related qualifications mandatory with Certificate III in Aircraft Surface Finishing desirable.
- Ability to undergo on-the-job training.
- Aviation experience desirable however candidates from other industries considered.
- Ability to develop skills and become self-sufficient through training.
- Strong teamwork and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work A and B Shifts.
- Commitment to safety, health, and environmental policies in an aeronautical environment.
- Strong computer literacy skills.
Applicant ELIGIBILITY
Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement for the role due to the need for candidates to apply and maintain a Defence Baseline security clearance.
