Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Tradesperson (Facilities) to join the team based in Osborne Shipyard in South Australia.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of the shipyard facilities to satisfy the legislative and project requirements.
The role is principally one of maintenance for production equipment which includes servicing and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, planned maintenance and defect rectification to ensure quality and technical standards are maintained for equipment used by production.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working 9-Day Fortnight and/ or hybrid working.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor you will be responsible for:
- Maintain safe, environmentally responsible, and non-discriminatory work practices in accordance with relevant company procedures and legislative requirements
- Ability to read and understand drawings and instructions
- Understand legislative and compliance standards for critical equipment
- Apply Mechanical trade skills to operate lathe, Mill, and other workshop machinery
- Ensure all work is executed in accordance with company processes, procedures, and instructions
- Ensure that quality and technical standards are met or exceeded
- Ensure the timely achievement of specified goals and objectives
About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- An understanding of shipyard operations (desirable)
- Cert IV Trade based qualifications in Mechanical or Equivalent
- Appropriate licencing for the equipment used within the shipyard
- Demonstrated experience in shipyard maintenance (desirable)
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Diagnostic/fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Must be eligible to apply for NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance
- NSSIC Clearance (Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Identification Card)
- International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) Regulations
