About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager – Engineering to join our Maritime Sustainment Program Delivery team based at Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will ensure that the technical, cost and schedule goals associated with assigned projects are achieved in accordance with the contractual and company requirements to deliver required business goals.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ownership and Maintenance of Engineering Schedule: Manage and maintain the Engineering schedule for the Sustainment Program, ensuring alignment with the overall program schedule.
- Collaboration with Engineering Streams: Work closely with Engineering teams to track, update, and manage the Engineering schedule, incorporating any changes or adjustments to feed into the broader program schedule.
- Monthly Reporting & Earned Value Framework: Support Engineering Control Account Managers (CAMs) in the monthly reporting cycle, ensuring timely and accurate updates. Support the analysis and explanations for any variances or breaches against project tolerances, in accordance with the Earned Value Management (EVM) framework.
- Risk and Issues Management: Own and manage the Engineering Risk and Issues Register, working with the Engineering CAMs to track and resolve risks. Provide support for risk mitigation, including managing drawdown requests against identified risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify, manage, and resolve engineering-related issues, ensuring they are captured, managed and driven to closure.
- Program Performance Reporting: Lead the compilation and coordination of Engineering Program Performance reports. Ensure that all reporting data is accurate, complete, and submitted in line with reporting objectives and quality requirements.
- Project Review Meetings: Actively participate in project review meetings, providing insights and updates on schedule, risks, and issues relating to engineering streams.
- Ad Hoc Support: Provide additional support for new project initiatives or ad hoc requests from the Engineering function as required including establishment or taking ownership of existing working groups, stand ups and forums.
About YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or relevant experience (desirable, but not essential)
- Demonstrated experience in a technical project management role
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management skills
- Strong understanding of engineering project schedules, Earned Value Management (EVM), and variance analysis
- Expertise in risk management, specifically identifying, tracking, and mitigating engineering-related risks.
- Understanding and applied knowledge of scheduling integration
- Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
- Capability to identify and solve complex problems, think critically and innovate
- High level writing and presentation skills that extend to clear and accurate reports appropriate for a management audience
- Current NV1 Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
