About the OPPORTUNITY –
We have an exciting opportunity for a Naval Architect to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at Osborne, SA, reporting to the Production Design - Engineering Manager Maritime and working closely under the Principal Naval Architect.
This is a long-term opportunity to build into. You will be responsible for working on complex tasks related to the Naval Architecture discipline in the context of ‘Shipbuilder Naval Architect', which involves translation of design requirements into processes and procedures to enable production and test teams, covering weight monitoring, stability analysis, manoeuvring and seakeeping analysis, launching, docking and undocking calculations.
This role will see you:
- Utilise design capture and analysis tools effectively to produce high quality designs and interpret data from shipbuilder for analysis of results
- Utilise test tools effectively to undertake test, integration and verification including diagnosing problems and analysing results
- Design and develop systems related to structural analysis, weight and moment control, ship launch operations, docking operations, in-water stability management, sea trials and more.
For this role you can either have recently graduated with some experience working in the field or be an experienced professional looking to enhance your career.

About YOU
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture
- Knowledge and experience in marine design and analysis using associated tools, e.g. Finite Element Modelling (FEM) such as HyperWorks, stability analysis (e.g. Maxsurf), CAD (e.g. Rhino) etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional team integration
- A current NV1 Clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations
