About the OPPORTUNITY
We have exciting opportunities for a Platform Monitoring and Control Engineer – Platform Management Systems (PMS) to join our Hunter Class Frigate program.
The Platform Monitoring and Control (PM&C) team manage the development, design and integration of the control and monitoring systems on the Hunter Class Frigate. These systems are essential for the ship to be managed efficiently by the crew when in service and to provide the end user with situational awareness of the various systems across the ship. We work with our suppliers to develop requirements, tailor the design for our Australian customer, define required product changes and integrate the control systems (hardware and software) into the ship platform. This requires us to define and manage a large number of physical and functional interfaces and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
The Hunter Class Frigate Program is a large, complex program and so offers an opportunity to working in an environment that is both technically challenging and exciting.
This role will require you to have demonstrable specialist/expert knowledge in Platform Management Systems in a shipbuilding environment. Experience in the engineering design lifecycle and change management will be highly advantageous for this position.
Key responsibilities include:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Platform Monitoring & Control, your areas of responsibility will be to:
- Provide specialist engineering expertise to mature the PMS design, resolve supplier technical queries and review supplier deliverables
- Lead technical engagement with the supplier and provide recommendations for technical solutions
- Support technical impact assessment of changes to PMS
- Work collaboratively with other members of the team and share in depth system knowledge
- Develop and deliver detailed functional design requirements and interface specifications for systems interfacing to PMS
- Identify and report technical issues, lead resolution and reporting to the program on areas of technical risk from PMS
- Work with technical Subject Matter Experts, Design Authorities, Suppliers, internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the required capability is delivered for the customer.
About YOU
- Degree qualification in a STEM discipline, or chartered professional engineer status or ability and commitment to obtain. Alternatively, demonstrate equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience working on Platform Management Systems in a shipbuilding environment.
- High levels of resilience and adaptability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve program outcomes
- Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise issues/ tasks as they arise.
- Current NV1 Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
