In early 2024, the Australian Government selected BAE Systems and ASC Pty Ltd to build Australia's new fleet of nuclear-powered submarines in a significant development in the AUKUS trilateral security pact between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
We are currently seeking dedicated professionals who are passionate about leading defence innovation and working in a highly collaborative environment, within a global team. This program will focus on developing advanced submarine capabilities, integrating cutting-edge technology, and fostering international cooperation among Australia, the UK, and the US. As we enter the crucial mobilisation phase of the contract, your expertise will be vital in delivering strategic plans that can be delivered into actionable outcomes.
About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Training Designer to work within our SSN AUKUS team. Reporting to the Enterprise Learning Lead, this role is responsible for designing and developing training products and systems with a keen focus on e-learning, working closely with subject matter experts and delivering regulatory compliant solutions. The role is also responsible for ensuring the solutions and systems are delivered within project timelines whilst maintaining an awareness of best practice to assist the business in provision of contemporary innovative development of training solutions.
This role will be based out of our Osborne Shipyard office in Adelaide and is open to our 9-day fortnight and hybrid work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, analysing, and evaluating a broad range of instructional materials
- Use a systems approach to learning design such as the ADDIE Method
- Working with subject matter experts to integrate feedback, student support, assessment and course evaluation into the training program
- Applying instructional theories, tools and resources supported by evidence based data
- Conducting user testing and validation of e-learning resources
- Providing technical leadership and working with other instructional designers and subject matter experts to manage the design and development of innovative learning solutions
- Application of human centred training design principals
- Sequencing tasks and establishing timelines to achieve efficient outcomes and monitors progress
- An ability to embrace change, learn new technologies and work under pressure
- Be self-motivated and able to pursue agreed training system goals and policies
- Some out of standard business hours work may be required to support our international stakeholders
About YOU
- An ability to interact and influence others
- Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under their own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills is important to this role
- An ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside their immediate team, to implement business requirements
- Experience in HTML coding (highly desirable)
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Gomo/Articulate/SuccessFactors LMS highly desirable
- Eligibility for a Negative Vetting Level 1 Defence security clearance
