Electrical Trade Assistants
BAE Systems is delighted to partner with one of Australia's leading recruitment agencies, Randstad Pty Ltd, who are recruiting experienced Trade Assistants to join our Electrical team for major naval shipbuilding programs in Osborne, SA.
Contingent/Casual positions with full-time hours available – Hourly base rate of $47.85
About the Opportunity
We have an opportunity for Electrical Trade Assistants to join our Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) refit program based at Osborne.
This is a hands‑on role in a live shipyard environment, supporting electrical trades and contributing directly to ship upgrade and refit activities.
BAE Systems Australia embraces flexible work arrangements, including a 9‑day fortnight.

Key Responsibilities
- Hands‑on assistance to electrical trades in a production and shipboard environment
- Support with preparation, material handling, tool setup, and maintaining workfront readiness
- Assisting with installation activities under direction of qualified tradespersons
- General workshop and onboard support tasks that contribute to work quality and efficiency
- Maintaining safe, tidy, and well‑organised work areas
- Performing duties such as confined space watching or spotting when required
About You
You will bring practical, hands‑on experience from a trade, manufacturing or industrial environment and demonstrate a strong work ethic and pride in what you do.
Experience from the following backgrounds is highly regarded:
- Electrical Trade Assistant roles
- Mechanical or industrial maintenance environments
- Carpentry, sheet metal, fabrication, or construction trades
- Shipyard, manufacturing, or heavy industry settings
You will also demonstrate:
- A genuine commitment to safety and quality
- Reliability and strong time‑keeping
- The ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team
- Clear, practical communication skills
- A willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility
