About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) program, located in Richmond VIC, reporting to the Project Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
As an Engineering Team Lead you will be responsible for delivering engineering outputs within the constraints of quality, cost and schedule including responsibility for leading a team of engineers to deliver the ESSM development program and transitioning new and upgraded products into production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the project engineering team to develop innovative solutions to technical issues and implement into production to maintain the production schedule.
- Lead the project engineering team to transition new products into production by planning and developing the engineering solution, implementing and verifying the design and releasing to production.
- Interface with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Develop technical plans to implement new or modified products into production liaising with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Technical oversight and review of engineering work to ensure the quality and technical correctness of the work products.
- Support the program in developing engineering estimates for bid proposals.
- Assist the engineering manager to maintain engineering governance within the project teams and manage resources.
- Monitor and report on the assigned packages of work in terms of cost and schedule performance.
About YOU
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electronics or Software Engineering
- Demonstrated Team Leadership experience
- A good understanding and experience in effective use of Engineering process, lifecycles, methods, tools and infrastructure
- Experience in a development environment would be highly regarded
- Demonstrated good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels
- Demonstrated self-motivation and a proactive approach to progressing all assigned tasks coupled with good problem solving skills
