About the OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable Practitioner Project Manager to support and lead the delivery of cutting-edge projects as part of our Maritime Australia Innovation Program based in Tonsley, SA.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will apply your skills and experience to plan, execute and deliver diverse innovative projects. Collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for managing projects to test concepts, develop prototypes and simulate behaviours to validate and embed into real-world shipbuilding applications.
This is not a standard delivery role, many challenges are still emerging and not yet fully defined. You'll draw on your project management expertise to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, turning ideas into practical, value-driven outcomes. Your ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguity will help shape a once-in-a-generation transformation in Australian shipbuilding.
Concept projects provide extensive advantage across the Maritime industry by driving continuous improvement in efficiency, safety, productivity and quality. Through collaboration with Industry Partners & Universities you'll contribute to innovative solutions and be on the forefront of their delivery into a maritime production & sustainment environment.

Key responsibilities include:
- Apply effective Project Management principles to initiate, plan, execute and deliver projects through proactive team collaboration and leadership
- Determine the scope & drive needs analysis requirements to ensure concept meets strategic objectives of the Business, Customers and Stakeholders
- Proactive engagement and management of Innovation Technical / Engineering teams
- Identify and proactively manage project opportunities and risks and develop mitigation strategies for pursuit throughout contract phases.
- Fostering a positive collaborative culture between key project stakeholders and the project team including the customer, sub-contractors and suppliers
- Establishing appropriate key success indicators and recommend trade-offs between scope, quality, time and cost
- Maintenance of project management baseline
About YOU
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management fundamentals or technical Engineering
- Ability to determine, dissect and construct the scope set, the schedule, the timeline and ascertain what is viable and what needs to be eliminated
- Experience in major defence or engineering projects
- Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
- Proven track record of successful project delivery in terms of cost, schedule and performance
- Familiar with using and developing PLM tools such as Windchill or other ERP tools
- Current Baseline Defence Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Comfortable operating in the grey and still able to structure work and make progress even when goals, solutions, or constraints are not fully known.
