About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have a newly created opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team based at our Osborne Naval Shipyard Offices, SA. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.
You will be responsible for:
- Assessing supplier claims, calculating quantities of labour, materials and durations and supporting assessment of non-conformance.
- Support initial tendering, contract management and supplier disputes working with the contract managers to deliver to cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk.
- Ensure commercial aspects of sub-contract accounts are managed from procurement to interim and final account agreement, in accordance with relevant contract terms and associated pricing option and/ or best practice.
- Establish and agree contractual programme, forecasting and reporting project commercial performance.
- Support the assessment of Contractor claims and payment valuations ensuring these are accurately assessed, challenged appropriately, certified and paid on time with the appropriate contractual notices and payment certificates.
- Assist regular progress and contract performance meetings to facilitate agreement of contractual changes whilst ensuring that the contractual timeframes are complied with, covering SHE, quality, risks and budget delivery and savings for assigned contracts.
- Work with key stakeholders to resolve issues as escalated through the Subcontractors, internal stakeholders or the Line of Business Production Subcontracts Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Accountable for monitoring accurate Contractor progress on site, carrying out accurate site and quantity measurements, and, where applicable, reporting over measure or cost adjustments required
About YOU
- Australia Citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance (Essential).
- Demonstrated Quantity Surveying experience within a relevant sector.
- Experience in the delivery of services/ construction contracts, detailed understanding of optimal contracting and pricing routes.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial discipline (desirable).
- Sound commercial skills and acumen with a proven capability in negotiations Demonstrable skills in managing production subcontracts including valuations, claims and disputes.
- Outstanding communication and time management skills.
- Sound understanding of standard Method of Measurement.
