About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an opportunity for a Test and Commissioning Operations Manager - Auxiliary to join the Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) Program based in Osborne, SA. The DCE program will provide a number of capability upgrades to the existing Hobart Class guided missile destroyers (DDGs).
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
You will be responsible for fulfilling DCE engineering requirements and managing a team of Lead Technicians, Technicians and Apprentices.
Key responsibilities include:
The Test and Commissioning (T&C) engineering stream is responsible for delivering the required Set To Work (STW) and testing documentation, as well as providing support to the T&C operational staff with maintenance of the T&C documentation and major evolution project planning and management support.
- Primarily responsible for managing the operation, maintenance, STW, test and commissioning and trials of the Auxiliary systems
- Support the DCE Manager to develop, and adhere to the T&C schedules and budgets, as well as the management and maintenance of the associated risk profiles within the T&C maintenance Register.
- Program planning for technical staff development. This includes competency framework and development and training plans.
- Training, development and management of a team of Technical Staff members.
- Working collaboratively with the DCE T&C Manager to execute the T&C program scope, including identification of necessary skillsets, training/upskilling and cross-training of resources to mitigate against single points of failure.
- Supporting the DCE T&C Manager to generate and execute the DCE Program T&C strategies and plans, including ensuring all planning documents are in line with the program and business plans and framework.
- Ensuring all of the DCE T&C tasks are safely conducted using processes and procedures that are compliant with WHS legislation and the BAE Systems SHE policies.
About YOU
- Leadership: Experience working in a management role within an engineering or complex organisation, preferably in a Defence/Maritime environment.
- Qualification: Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications with extensive experience within a Test & Commissioning role
- Communication skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate individuals and teams and foster a ‘One Team' approach.
- Outcomes focus: Proven ability to problem solve to deliver objectives. This includes managing interfaces and interdependencies; and developing and executing plans in a timely way.
- Continuous improvement: A focus on always improving, with the ability to identify dependencies, risks, and opportunities.
- Defence clearance: Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
