About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager- Software Solutions to join our Hunter Class line of business based at Osborne Naval Shipyard- SA, reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for providing expertise, governance, and oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing digital systems and software solutions. As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will serve as a technical authority, bridging production with other functions and engineering disciplines to drive improvements and support business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct and manage risk assessments for SHE, product safety, and manufacturing quality, ensuring compliance with OH&S and Australian Standards.
- Provide guidance on manufacturing execution system and the supporting systems to enable the effective and efficient transfer of information from the design to the operational environment.
- Lead and mentor Production Engineering teams, building technical capability and fostering junior staff development.
- Represent Operations and Manufacturing Engineering in business forums and review relating to digital systems and data transfer and integration of software tools.
- Drive root cause analysis, quality improvements, and resolution of process issues.
- Support the Operation team through rapid development of data and software solutions.
- Establish and develop relationships with stakeholders and other teams to provide fully deployed solutions.
- Ensure in-production modifications are captured in change management systems.
- Manage production capabilities to meet cost, quality, and schedule goals while driving innovation, waste elimination, and competitiveness.
- Provide technical governance, maintain ITAR compliance, and oversee engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Support engineering-production interface issues, facilities upgrades, and technology transfer programs.
About YOU
- Experience in an operational technology environment
- Experience in the planning, administration and management of software development projects (including web applications
- Solid understanding of MRP fundamentals.
- Proven professional integrity, advanced technical expertise, strong decision-making skills, and maturity in judgment.
- Significant experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
- In-depth practical knowledge of manufacturing processes in both commercial and/or defence environments.
- Strong ability to make independent judgments and decisions related to the role.
