About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Application Developer to join our Maritime function based at Adelaide, South Australia, reporting to the Web Applications lead focused on digital transformation of processes for the Osborne Shipyard. This opportunity is for a 12-month contingent engagement directly with BAE Systems.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
As part of a team developing a Manufacturing Execution System application for the Osborne Shipyard, you will be responsible developing software that meets business needs and aligns with architectural governance, policies and standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Technical analysis of requirements
- Lead the design of appropriate APIs and objects to meet technical requirements
- Recommendation of appropriate software libraries to meet design objectives
- Lead the development of APIs as per design
- Testing of developed code, and liaise with others for SIT and UAT
- Documentation of developed solutions
About YOU
- Hold or be eligible to obtain Baseline Clearance
- Proficient with Git, including repository creation and management on platforms like Bitbucket or GitLab. Demonstrated proficiency in implementing branching strategies, managing pull requests, resolving conflicts, and following Git best practices
- Demonstrated Java experience with current knowledge and experience with Java 17+
- Experience with deploying Java and web-based applications (React/Angular) in a Tomcat environment, including knowledge of the WEB-INF structure and servlet configuration to manage both Java and web applications
- Experience with Spring Boot and its ecosystem including the ability to evaluate and select appropriate Spring libraries based on project needs, compatibility, and performance trade-offs
- Experience in implementing Spring Security, effectively managing both public and protected routes to ensure secure access within applications. Additionally, they have a deep understanding of various authentication protocols, including LDAP, SAML, and OAuth2.0, which are crucial for verifying user identities and managing secure communications between systems
- Experience with Docker or Podman, particularly in configuring, managing, deploying, and rolling back containerized applications. Proficient in handling the lifecycle of containers, optimizing images, and implementing deployment strategies to support tomcat images bundled with both frontend and backend code
