About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Cyber Security Manager to join our Maritime Business reporting to the Head of Digital, Data, and Cyber Security (DDC) – Maritime.
The Cyber Security Manager – Maritime heads up the cyber team within Maritime DDC, delivering a cyber security program aligned with business goals. This includes secure architecture, risk management, threat response, supply chain security, and user awareness.
The role ensures operational continuity, manages internal and external cyber engagement (including with the Commonwealth), and drives cyber strategy across Maritime. As part of the DDC leadership team, the manager is responsible for the ongoing development of the team and promoting a strong security culture.
This role offers a flexible location with monthly travel to Osborne, Adelaide.
Key responsibilities include:
- Integrate ways of working and operate as One Team with our Enterprise Cyber Security Group, with a dotted reporting line to the BAE Systems Australia Chief Information Security Officer.
- Develop and implement Maritime DDC cyber security program, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Maintain a Cyber Resiliency testing capability for Maritime systems and integrate this with threat modelling activities as part of solution delivery and through life support.
- Drive secure architecture and embed cyber security across all system design, build, and operations.
- Promote cyber awareness and build a strong security culture across the business.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Provide cyber support via the DDC Service Desk and manage incident response in collaboration with support services.
- Operate a Cyber Operations function to monitor and respond to IT/OT threats and vulnerabilities. Ensure integration of Maritime IT/OT systems into the broader BAE Systems Australia SOC.
- Foster collaboration across Maritime DDC, Cyber Security Group, Maritime cyber, the customer, defence cyber teams, protective security, OCIO, and Group Security teams.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, and the Commonwealth customer.
- Ensure Cyber Security risks for the Maritime business unit are identified, socialised and managed through life.
- Lead and develop the cyber security team, with a focus on service delivery, capability building, and succession planning.
About YOU
- Strategic thinker and change leader, with a track record of identifying improvements and motivating high-performing teams to deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
- Proven cyber and information security leadership, including managing multi-disciplinary teams across complex, multi-site environments.
- Extensive experience in multiple Cyber Security disciplines – Architecture, Operations, GRC, Offensive Security.
- Experience working with Operational Technology in a manufacturing context.
- Experience working in a infrastructure or application team would be well regarded.
- Skilled communicator and stakeholder manager, able to influence internal and external stakeholders and develop cyber strategies with government partners.
