About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer / Team Lead – Production Engineering Support to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at Osborne in SA, reporting to the Production Engineering Support Manager.
As the Senior Electrical Engineer for Production Engineering Support, you will be responsible for providing technical engineering reviews, recommendations and leadership to resolve shipbuilding issues and enable production trades within your domain.
This is a technical and leadership role, set to grow significantly in scope and influence as the build program advances into the electrical outfit phase within the next two years.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mobilise and lead a team of up to 15 engineers and para-professionals, including mentoring and coaching.
- Conduct technical assessments to resolve electrical engineering issues (e.g., cable reeving, optical fiber, conduit) during shipbuilding.
- Provide an interface between the Production Engineering team, Ship Management and Operations stakeholders.
- Attain and exercise formal Engineering Delegation of Authority to develop Production Query fit/form variances that do not impact design intent.
- Develop and maintain repair threshold documents in collaboration with design authorities and stakeholders, ensuring functional integrity of the HCF design.
About YOU
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Significant experience as a professional Electrical Engineer and able to apply technical knowledge to shipbuilding issues
- Experience in developing electrical equipment designs, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of electrical/ electronic solutions & its integration
- Engineering degree qualified, satisfying the requirements for Chartered membership of the institute of Engineers Australia.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively under limited supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with excellent customer relations skills
- Understanding of requirements, design, safety & verification
