About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Hunter Class Delivery team based at Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia.
Reporting to the Head of Program Integration, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to drive the delivery of a complex defence shipbuilding program, managing large-scale technical projects with significant interdependencies, evolving requirements, and long-term schedules.
You will drive deliverables across engineering, supply chain, and production teams. You will manage uncertainty and change, and ensure scope is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the project team, providing clear direction and prioritisation whilst managing technical challenges, interdependencies, and evolving requirements across the program.
- Navigate uncertainty and change while maintaining program objectives and priorities, balancing trade-offs between quality, time and cost.
- Manage and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders such as the project team, the customer, industry partners, sub-contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure that products and services delivered as part of the project are in accordance with the Product Safety Policy.
- Foster a proactive risk management culture, continuously identifying and mitigating potential risks while ensuring clear communication of risk positions and business impacts to stakeholders beyond the project team.
About YOU
- 5+ years of hands-on Project Management delivery experience within a complex production build and / or engineering environment. Providing evidence of experience in the following:
- Uncertainty & Change - implementation of Engineering change into baseline scope.
- Interdependencies - management of scope and concurrent deliverables across Engineering, Supply Chain and Production.
- Technical Complexity - management of complex work scope across multiple Engineering & Production disciplines and systems.
- Scale & Duration – management of $100M + program & long-term schedule.
- Industry experience in Civil Infrastructure (mega construction projects such as road, rail, tunnels), Defence (shipbuilding, aviation) and/or Energy sector (mining, oil & gas production) will be highly regarded.
- Experience in risk identification and proactive mitigation.
- Proven ability to actively manage and solve project issues across multiple disciplines and stakeholder groups.
- Project Management Qualification or Chartership desirable but not essential.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
