About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a permanent part time (22hrs per week) Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Advisor to join our SHE team. Reporting to the SHE Lead, this role is responsible for supporting the line of business through the provision of specialist advice, support and knowledge of SHE principles and practices to continually improve safety, health and environment performance and meet legal obligations.
This role is a key team contributor and is instrumental in developing and maintaining a safety culture by providing advice, mentoring, coaching and best practice solutions to prevent incidents. The role will be responsible for ensuring governance processes are implemented to assist management to meet WHS legal, ISO Certifications and business requirements.
This role will be based in our Richmond office in Victoria.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide Safety Health & Environment advice, in relation to SHE processes, business rules, legislation and standards.
- Champion and deliver relevant SHE training and inductions.
- Coach employees, supervisors, managers and other personnel, in relation to SHE processes.
- Ensure project compliance with incident reporting requirements, and assist with, or lead incident investigations and assurance activities.
- Monitor and analyse injury/incident trend data, and implement/recommend actions to counter trends.
- Identify SHE process and system improvement opportunities, and take steps to implement, and act as the owner for relevant procedures.
- Assist project personnel to identify SHE hazards and risks for inclusion in SH&E risk registers
KEY CRITERIA:
- Diploma in WHS or relevant Tertiary qualifications
- Previous experience in a SHE or similar role in a complex environment
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks and governance requirements
- Management of safety, health and environment in a high risk work environment preferred (i.e. mining, construction, manufacturing)
- The ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management
- Experience in engaging and providing advice to stakeholders at all levels on high risk/impact matters
- The ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, in a way that generates business benefit, whilst maintaining key relationships
- Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Eligibility for a Negative Vetting Level 1 Defence security clearance
