About the OPPORTUNITY –
We have a great opportunity for a Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer/Technical Officer to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) based ideally at either Osborne, SA, or Melbourne, Vic, reporting to the E3 Lead.
Please note travel to Adelaide and Canberra may be required for this role if based outside of either location.
Working within the HCFP Combat System (CS) Transverse Engineering, the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer/ Technical Officer will support the HCFP continuous build strategy and will be responsible for Emanations Security (EMSEC), Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and RF Radiation Hazard (RADHAZ) issues. Experience in ship building and Radio Frequency (RF) to be successful in this role. Maritime/Navy experience would be highly advantageous for this position.
This role will see you:
- Contribute to the development of the E3 content of engineering management plans / systems engineering management plans / EMC control plans / spectrum management plans / emanations security control plans / RADHAZ control plans
- Providing input to E3 design engineering, production support, development and integration testing and performance evaluation capability to the HCF Project in the Osborne, SA Shipyard.
- Review System Cable Schematic Drawings and Cable Schedules
- Work with key suppliers to ensure HCFP E3 needs are clearly articulated, and that resultant data can be integrated into the HCFP.
- Providing technical capability support to bids and projects in areas related to E3 activities.

About YOU
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (ideally in Electronics) or post graduate qualifications in Radio Frequency (RF) and/or maritime/Navy experience
- Demonstrated experience in RF and/or Antenna Design will be required.
- Understanding and exposure to electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) issues – highly desirable
- Knowledge and/or understanding of Emanations Security (EMSEC) – highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills – working with various stakeholders
- NV1 Defence security clearance
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
