About the OPPORTUNITY –
We have a great opportunity for a Mechanical Production Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based either at Osborne, SA.
Working as part of a team, this role will see you operate as a Mechanical Production Engineer to maintain, track and control the weight on and off the ship. You will be responsible for maintaining the weight register as items are taken off and put back onto the ship to accurately control the total weight. You will be liaising with various stakeholders, recording information and reporting on this as requested.
This role will require you to be involved on and off the ship as well as undertaking some desk-based tasks. It is important that you are mobile to move around the ship and across the yard.
Ideally, you will have worked in a production environment previously where you have interacted with trades people, supervisors, managers and suppliers for production.
This role will see you:
- Act as an interface between production and other Engineering disciplines, interpreting documents and information as required
- Manage and maintain accurate information for tracking purposes in Excel and provide required reports
- Engage with stakeholders in a production environment for the maintenance of records
- Ensure that the DCE DDG tasks are safely conducted using processes and procedures that are compliant with WHS legislation and the BAE Systems SHEQ policies.
- Participate in problem identification and analysis

About YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering – Bachelor degree, Diploma or equivalent
- Experience as a mechanical engineer, ideally in a production engineering capacity
- Demonstrated experience working with Excel and the management of spreadsheets with numerical calculations
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal for stakeholder engagement and reporting purposes
- Defence security clearance (NV1) or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
