Role Description:
Our innovation team have a new opportunity for a Maritime Engineering Lead in our Innovation team based at the Innovation district in Tonsley, South Australia. In this role, you will contribute to purposeful work throughout the entire ship lifecycle of current and future platforms.
Using your curiosity and technical insight you will lead research & technology activities across ship system design, construction and sustainment. Your work will help develop and mature platform system solutions, enhancing the readiness of future ships and facilities.
You will play a key role in advancing technical solutions ensuring that future platforms are equipped with reliable and effective systems from concept to capability.
Core Duties:
- Leading marine and mechanical technical solution development within the Research & Technology portfolio maintaining alignment with applicable technology roadmaps
- Coordinate the development of roadmaps to integrate new technologies and solving complex problems
- Managing planned and emergent work fronts to successful execution with the support of the Project Manager
- Contributing to the development of a high performing and resilient team
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, OEMs, SMEs, VIPs, academia
- Ensuring Product Integrity (Safety, Security, Environment) and Technical Integrity (Fitness for Purpose) aspects are met
- Lead technical investigations (troubleshooting) with support from Principal Engineer
- Actively lead to the identification and treatment of risk & opportunity
- Engaging with the communications department to help promote/capture social media for events as applicable
- Identify and report technical risks, subcontractors, and stakeholder relationships, ensuring alignment with project and enterprise goals
- Support the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and governance practices to enhance delivery efficiency and quality
- Contribute to technical solution development, ensuring alignment with customer needs, system constraints, and future scalability
Essential Skills:
- Have a demonstrable knowledge in Maritime Platform Systems
- Bachelor's Degree in Maritime/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline, Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering
- Be highly motivated to achieve best results, working as a cross functional member of a team
- Possess a naturally analytical, evidence based approach to problem solving
- Be curious and open minded, whilst maintaining a healthy scepticism in the absence of solid evidence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve good business outcomes
- Ability to lead the delivery of technical solutions that meet complex operational and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work autonomously
- Current Baseline defence security clearance with the eligibility to obtain NV1
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
