About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Maintenance Technician to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at Osborne, SA, reporting to the Facilities Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
You will be responsible for maintaining Shipyard facilities to meet legislative and project requirements, providing technical support for crane compliance across the Shipyard and external warehouses, and exercising sound judgment in repair and support activities to minimize project impact. You will apply in-depth knowledge of shipbuilding cranes including overhead, gantry and jib, as well as fleet equipment such as forklifts, EWPs, mobile cranes and pallet lifters, while engaging with OEMs to monitor and ensure compliance of all lifting equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Liaise with the Crane OEM to ensure compliance and legislation.
- Plan and Schedule Crane servicing dates suitable for both production and OEM.
- Ensure corrective maintenance is quoted and completed on time to comply with safety standards.
- Provide expert technical (Hands on) services to projects.
- Troubleshooting production problems.
- Assist in the preparation of in-house training.
- Ensure maintenance is being performed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and records are kept up to date.
- Re-Commissioning of the plant after shutdown/maintenance.
- Provide Input into SOP development and Risk Assessments for the Equipment.
- Ensure consumables and recommended spares are on hand or a process has been established to enable timely procurement.
About YOU
- Cert IV trade qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or equivalent.
- Strong experience in maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting systems, including computerised maintenance systems and crane or fleet equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, with experience in mechanical/electrical roles in manufacturing or similar environments.
- Skilled in managing and maintaining facilities and equipment in complex precision production environments, including implementing preventative and routine maintenance.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, coordinating with technicians, engineering, maintenance, and management teams.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
