Role Description:
The Project Manager is accountable to the Program Manager or Portfolio Manager for the planning and delivery of straightforward to complex projects. Your role will be to implement and follow project management policies and processes in line with BAE Systems Australia's Operational Framework, while also building goodwill and collaboration between the project team and the customer, industry partners and other key stakeholders.
Core Duties:
- Planning and delivery of projects that are straightforward to complex in nature
- Build and maintain a trusted relationship with the customer by being a focal point for customer contact
- Ensure all project requirements and/ or objectives are properly documented in a business case and/ or project brief, as appropriate and vigorously pursued
- Establish appropriate key success indicators and recommend trade-offs between scope, quality, time and cost
- Ensure that products and services delivered as part of a project are in accordance with the Product Safety Policy and provide customer satisfaction
- Identify project opportunities and risks and develop mitigation strategies for pursuit throughout contract phases. Monitor and report on the status of risks and opportunities
- Complete all closure and wrap-up activities upon project completion including lessons learnt
- Document and track changes in project parameters, obstacles and delays and implement appropriate mitigations
- Delivery of products and services in accordance with the Product Safety Policy
- Carry out project reviews as required to meet project and internal company review requirements, with formal monthly reporting to the Program Manager on project status and any issues
Essential Skills:
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to more junior project managers
- Foster a positive and collaborative culture between key project stakeholders and the project team including the customer, industry partners, sub-contractors and suppliers
- Experience leading the project teams to ensure timely activity, integration and efficient use of time and resources to meet requirements
- Significant (6+ years) relevant experience in project management within an electronic, hardware, production, manufacturing or sub-contractor management role/industry previously is preferred but not required
- Proven experience in articulating strategy/ purpose and able to link objectives and project deliverables
- Ability to consider projects and make decisions in the context of the broader business strategy
- Be able to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder engagement
- Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/ or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of different audiences
