Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Lead to join our JORN ICT Group, based in Adelaide (or willing to relocate from interstate — with relocation benefits provided). In this role, you will lead a team of Linux Engineers responsible for the management of, and delivery of engineering changes to, all JORN Linux systems and related enterprise services.
This is an onsite position located at DSTG in South Australia.
Core Duties:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Linux Engineers, supporting both technical capability and career growth
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and performance management (including reviews and timesheets)
- Allocate and manage workloads, ensuring effective delivery across competing priorities
- Oversee system changes, tracking progress through Agile sprints and ensuring delivery against timelines
- Manage system performance, fault detection, and issue resolution aligned with best practices
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with JORN processes, governance, and management plans
- Support Project Managers and Engineering Managers with planning, scheduling, and decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of project outcomes
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support ICT program execution
- Champion best-practice engineering methodologies and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to strengthening engineering standards, processes, and system reliability
About YOU
- Experience working in a Linux environment, including exposure to networking, operating systems, and applications.
- Background in ICT or Systems Engineering with a solid understanding of Linux systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing people in a technical environment.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Ability to balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes aligned with customer and business needs.
- Proven capability to operate confidently within a project team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain an NV1 clearance.
