We currently have an exciting leadership opportunity for Procurement and Subcontract Manager – BIS Portfolio's within our Battlespace Integrated Solutions program. Ideally the role is located in Melbourne, but can be flexible for the right talent based in Adelaide, Sydney or Canberra. We also provide a flexibility of nine days fortnight work for this role.

Your new role:
Reporting to the Head of Procurement – Defence Delivery, you will be responsible to establish, place and manage the appropriate contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business.
This role will require an individual with a broad knowledge across all facets of supply chain, procurement and contract management to maximise value and minimise risk to the program.
More specifically, you will
- Support the development of robust supplier sourcing strategies for the business and manage procurement and subcontract elements of bids and tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and commercial terms
- Lead the supplier evaluation process and support sourcing recommendations on behalf of the business
- Adhere to contractual obligation through effective commercial and correspondence administration including but not limited to milestone, claims. Notice/letters and flow down of contract amendments
- Manage the procurement and subcontract elements of bids and tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and commercial terms
- Lead supplier negotiations and finalise Supplier Agreements and purchase orders in accordance with set procedures and Delegations Of Authority (DOA)
- Proactively manage the performance of suppliers to achieve the requirements of the contract and developing/embedding the relevant key performance indicators
- Identify and manage supplier risk and opportunities and engage with key suppliers to enhance capability and efficiency
- Generate and manage the lifecycle management (LCM) procurement and subcontract management plans
- Raise awareness and support the implementation of procurement and subcontract practices both within the team and across the business and provide management reports as required
About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Demonstrated experience in procurement and subcontract management within an engineering/defence organisation
- Sound commercial acumen with proven capability in contract negotiation and working in ambiguous environment
- Track record of successful delivery of key supplier obligations with an ability to develop strong working relationship with suppliers, their supply chains and internal stakeholders
- Strong leadership skill with an ability to work under pressure, analyse critically and manage and prioritise multiple work activities
- An ability to provide leadership and direction with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Whilst not essential, degree qualification in procurement/supply chain or commercial discipline with professional procurement qualification or a membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) is desirable
