We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Database Administrator with expertise primarily in Oracle database administration to join the Central Business Function based in Adelaide.
Your new role:
As Senior Database Administrators' you will be responsible for service delivery and ongoing maintenance of BAE Systems database services. This includes installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, performance, security and maintenance.

More specifically, you will:
- Manage the day to day maintenance of Database and Middleware Systems
- Actively manage licencing for Database and Middleware Systems to ensure entitlements meet demand
- Contribute to budget and resource planning
- Set the core technical standards for database system design within Business Systems.
- Maintain high quality documentation of design and associated processes
- Keep abreast of relevant ICT industry developments with an eye to continuously improve our service offerings
- Collaborate with vendors to maximise the value of our database systems
- Collaborate with peers in order to maximise delivery and business value
- Mentor and coach Junior Database Administrators within the team
- Mentor and coach Application Support staff with their duties in support of the delegated support model.
- Proactively engage with the BAE Systems strategy to ensure our solutions are aligned to business outcomes.

About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Expert knowledge in Oracle Database maintenance and design including sizing, performance tuning, resiliency, redundancy, recovery and upgrade.
- Strong experience with Oracle databases ranging from 10g through to 19c across UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms including Engineered Systems;
- Expert knowledge in Oracle middleware technologies underpinning Oracle E-business suite
- Previous Experience in Oracle Application (R12.2) DB Administration
- Strong skills in administering database and Oracle E-Business Suite - Management and patching
- Experience working with a geographically distributed technology architecture
- A good working knowledge of alternative databases such as SQL Server and PostgreSQL
- Some knowledge of operating database systems within cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Oracle Cloud.
