Your new role:
The Nulka active missile decoy is the most sophisticated soft-kill defence system against anti-ship missiles available for the protection of surface warships. It is currently deployed on over 150 Australian, US and Canadian warships.
The Nulka system is the result of a collaborative development between Australia and the US, and brings together advanced flight vehicle guidance and control techniques, and sophisticated RF electronic technologies.
At BAE Systems Australia, we are looking for multiple software engineers to join this fantastic program. We will provide you with an exciting and unique opportunity to grow with some of Australia's finest defence professionals in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
This opportunity will see you
- Undertake all assigned Software Engineering activities, including related documentation, in accordance with identified project directives and standards, and commensurate with the lifecycle stage of the project
- Provide regular status information to relevant supervisors, as required
- Where applicable, provide guidance, mentoring and/or leadership to junior software engineers in their activities
- Work effectively as part of a software engineering team, and provide technical leadership to more junior members of the team
- Interface with other teams on the project ensuring that the broader project team's needs are taken into account
- Responsible for performing software engineering tasks in accordance with the relevant software engineering plans, and identifying opportunities for improvement of those plans
- Provide input and offer recommendations for improvement of Company processes and procedures
About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Degree qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science or technology related field or relevant experience
- Must be eligible to apply for Australian Defence Security Clearance
- Demonstrated experience in software engineering
Clearances
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
