We currently have an exciting opportunity within our Red Ochre Labs team as a Systems Engineering Manager based in Melbourne, Vic.
The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for estimating, resourcing and delivery of the Systems Engineering effort required from the technical solution, within the triple constraints of quality, cost and schedule.
This position will be focusing on the JUNO Programme is a cross Business Unit portfolio of Advanced Programmes aimed at driving accelerated top line growth for BAE Systems through rapid development of game changing products to expand and diversify our product portfolio to align with area of significant future market growth.

Your new role:
As a Systems Engineering Manager you will:
- Prepare, maintain and execute the System Engineering Management Plan, and to ensure subordinate plans are consistent and identify inconsistencies in related plans
- Establish the infrastructure and resources needed by the systems development and system integration programs
- Lead the development and management of System requirements, models and documents (System and Subsystem Specifications, Product Breakdown Structure, Design Documents, component specifications, interface specifications, MBSE artefacts, etc.)
- Ensure Systems Engineering activities are undertaken in compliance with BAE Systems
- Apply the Engineering Lifecycle including requirements management, functional analysis, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, system tests, acceptance tests and certification
- Apply Model Based Systems Engineering processes, tools and techniques and proactively develop this capability within the team
- Lead system design and subsystem partitioning to achieve robust modular architectures
- Perform analyses to define and characterise the system and its components
- Develop and review work statements and technically manage suppliers
- Develop and execute system tests and agree component tests which will ensure that the implemented designs conform to their specifications
- Maintaining the design and its documentation in accordance with the applicable configuration management, change management and traceability processes
- Independently reviewing teams' work, identify technical risks and unknowns and support planning activities
About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering with Chartered Professional Engineer status
- Extensive experience within the Engineering discipline with demonstrated experience in the Technical Development and Systems Design of engineering projects
- Track record of successful management of engineering teams
- Significant experience in at least one Engineering Discipline, e.g. Hardware, Software and Systems Engineering
- Significant experience in at least one Technology Domain e.g. Communications, Electronic Warfare, Simulation Systems
- Operational Analysis
- Experience in working with Model Based system Engineering (Cameo, DOORS Next Generation)
- Experience in Transverse Engineering (Safety and Security Analysis & Working Groups)
- Experience in Integration.Verification and Validation (Engineering Test Manager)
- Experience in Life Cycle Management Design Reviews and System of System Trials and Demonstrations
- Must have an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
