Your new role:
As the Senior Project Manager - Aviation Technical Training (ATT) you will report into the Aerospace – Head of Operational Excellence and be responsible for providing initial employment training for Australian Defence Force avionics/electrical, mechanical, structures and armament technicians as well as providing training for critical operational support functions, such as aircraft life support and ground support technicians and post initial employment training.
You will be managing our operations at Wagga Wagga, offering our customer innovative, efficient and adaptable training solutions that meet the requirements of both the ADF Systems Approach to Defence Learning and the Australian Skills Quality Authority for Registered Training Organisations.
Your team of over 100, is responsible for training over 1000 ADF personnel each year across 30 courses.
In more specific terms you will:
- Align business operations and training, defining the 'why and how' that drives solution success, business value, and advocating best practices that create frictionless customer experiences.
- Be the Lead and project owner for ATT management activities, manage the team to successfully execute the contract
- Have full management of operations including: staff management, coaching, development, motivation, productivity, resourcing and succession planning
- Manage project quality, cost and schedule
- Own the engagement with the ADF customer and stakeholders to manage and exceed capability, performance & change expectations or requirements.
- Identify project risks and opportunities and develop mitigation strategies for pursuit throughout the project life and monitor and report on the status of risks and opportunities
About you:
As an applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- A relevant degree qualification and/or extensive experience in project management and operational management within an engineering or training organisation
- Substantial experience in the development and delivery of technical services, where these may be complex in nature.
- Proven capability of managing significant value sustainment projects
- Ability to motivate and coach individuals/teams across a number of business areas, to shape and implement business success
- Capability to negotiate and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates mutual business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
- An existing Australian Defence Security Clearance or the ability to meet the application requirements.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
