Your new role:
As the Capacity Planner you ensure that the Shipyard Capacity (Level 3 Schedule) is reflective of the latest and most up-to-date information. Within this role, you will provide support & guidance to the Operations team around upcoming challenges/ bottlenecks including providing the prioritisation of critical scope to ensure effective delivery against key project milestones.
In more specific terms you will:
- Be the point of contact for any capacity planning related issues within the required Support Areas of the Hunter Class Program
- Compile & maintain key capacity statistics including workstation throughput as well as machine & resource capacities
- Support weekly Integrated Work Team (IWT) progress meetings and provide feedback of status & outcomes back to Level 3 Schedule
- Undertake any localised scenarios & provide recommendations in order to ensure progress towards achievement of key project milestones (lateness of material, equipment & capacity bottlenecks)
- Review and analysis weekly performance and update performance metrics sheet against reference ship. Work with Performance Team to ensure data is up-to-date and aligned with latest trend analysis.
- Liaise with Production and supporting functions to validate build plans, design information, material supply, associated schedules and resource requirements
About you:
As an applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Demonstrated experience in a Production Scheduling/ Production Planning type preferably in the heavy engineering industries or equivalent tertiary qualifications or production trade experience
- Practical experience in seeing patterns and trend in data, opportunities and coming up with solutions or quick wins.
- Fantastic initiative, openness to other ideas, like solving problems with a key eye for detail
- Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
- Microsoft Office – intermediate to advance skills or other planning tools i.e. P6 or MS Project.
- An existing Australian Defence Security Clearance or the ability to meet the application requirements.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
