About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) Software team at Edinburgh.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and part-time.
The JORN Phase 6 Upgrade program is modernizing and improving capability of the system. The Software team is executing a major development program to re-engineer the system to align with modern standards and practices, then incrementally add new capability to the system.
As a result of the growth within our business, we are seeking Software Engineers with demonstrated skills and experience in the development of software products.
Within our JORN software team, you'll have an opportunity to work on areas such as UX design and software development, architecture and integration. We have a growing team with the opportunity to constantly learn and carve out your niche in an area that interests you. You'll have interaction with many other teams and stakeholders such as RAAF operators and engineers in other disciplines. We're a strong team that takes pride in what we do and how we work together, with a lot to offer a software engineer looking to expand their skillset.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Design and development of software components used within the system
- Working in an Agile Scrum team environment following continuous integration processes
- Provision of guidance and mentoring for more junior software team members as required
- Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts and End Users to develop a technical solution that meets a broad set of needs
About YOU
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Working knowledge of Modern C++
- Hands on experience in working in a Linux development environment
- Familiarity with object orientated design and programming concepts
- Exposure to the Atlassian tool suite and Git
- Willingness to actively participate in an Agile Scrum development environment
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Previous experience or interest in getting hands on experience with DDS and Qt
