About the OPPORTUNITY
We have two exciting opportunities for an Algorithm Engineer to join our program based at either Richmond or Ed Parks, reporting to the MQ28a Ghost Bat GNC Lead.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be part of the MQ28a Ghost Bat project team. The MQ28a Ghost Bat is an affordable, semi-autonomous, un-crewed air vehicle developed in partnership with Boeing.
You will be responsible for working for the GNC Team Lead alongside subject matter experts in the fields of control systems and their application to Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV's).
Key responsibilities include:
- Utilising your existing control systems knowledge in concert with BAE Systems established GNC engineering practices to develop bespoke control solutions for the MQ28a Ghost Bat.
- Development of models and simulations of complex vehicles and systems.
- Liaise with the customer and supplier stakeholders in support of model development and validation.
- Develop and document requirements and verification activities for both models and control systems.
- Perform system engineering activities including requirements management, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, system tests, acceptance tests and certification.
- Perform configuration and change management on developed work products.
- Support field trial activities in remote locations.
About YOU
- Bachelors in Engineering.
- Working experience with MATLAB, Python and Simulink.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
- For one of the roles we are looking for approx. 2 years of work experience in an engineering role and for the other we are looking for approx. 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Exposure to aerospace engineering, aerodynamics and control systems.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
