About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Systems Engineer to join our project based at our site in Richmond, Melbourne, reporting to the Software Team Lead.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will work in a team carrying out systems engineering activities on predominantly two products, Ship Air Defence Model (SADM) and ForeSee. SADM is the world's most versatile model for maritime air defence analysis, providing advanced modelling and simulation for above water warfare analysis and training. Navies, defence research establishments and defence contractors around the world use it. ForeSee is an advanced software based tactical decision aid, designed to provide an additional layer of situational awareness to a Ship's ops-room. ForeSee provides an indication of the composite coverage of EM sensors from contributing ships within a task group against a variety of threats, modelling factors such as terrain masking and atmospheric effects.
Working across a variety of domains, this role is a great opportunity to explore your interests in Systems and Software Engineering whilst you work in a highly collaborative and well integrated technology team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing systems/software engineering activities including requirements management, functional analysis, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, system and acceptance testing.
- Provide technical support to an international customer base.
- Manage customer licenses and provide usage reporting to commercial.
- Assist in the development of system and acceptance tests in an automated regression testing framework.
- Collaborate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders, maintaining a positive culture.
- Review engineering peers' work, identify technical risks and unknowns and support planning activities.
- Work in an Agile Scrum team.
About YOU
- Systems/Software Engineering experience and experience within various phases of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
- Bachelor of Engineering.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present and build good relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated systems analysis, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Domain engineering knowledge in either Electronic Warfare (EW), Sensor Systems, Combat Systems or Aerospace, will be highly regarded.
- Understanding of Agile frameworks.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
