About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity as a Support System Delegated Design Authority to join our Hunter Class Line of Business. This role can be based in our Central Office, Melbourne or Osborne, South Australia.
This role will see you lead and facilitate engineering activities and make engineering decisions, as delegated and directed by the Support System Design Authority, to ensure that the design is safe, legal, and meets the contracted requirements (in accordance with the HCF Engineering Management Plan) for the Support System, consisting of all subsystems and domains as defined within the Support System Specification, relevant components of the Mission System, specifically the Condition Monitoring subsystem and Design for Support scope across the Mission System.
Drawing upon your extensive Integrated Logistics Support experience you will assimilate yourself with the Support System Delivery team to ensure the Support System Design will provide an optimised Through-Life Capability.

Key responsibilities include (however not limited to):
- Ensuring compliance with BAE SYSTEMS Engineering Governance requirements to ensure that all products within the scope of the contract:
- are safe to operate and maintain;
- are environmentally responsible;
- meet agreed and understood performance criteria and other requirements;
- have been developed by suitably qualified people;
- comply with regulatory and statutory technical standards; and
- have been subjected to processes of development and production that provide consistent and demonstrable quality
- Ensuring compliance with BAE SYSTEMS Engineering Lifecycle:
- Support System engineering processes and practices used to develop and qualify the products;
- Support System engineering program planning is consistent with the technical objectives of the project and is technically achievable; and
- Support System engineering qualification is adequate to satisfy the ‘fit for purpose' criteria as defined by the associated contrac
- Ensuring appropriate processes are established and executed by the project to:
- identify and manage technical risks associated with the system development and system integration programs;
- assure the safety and integrity of the company's products, principally through the review of systems engineering outputs and independent review of system designs together with all engineering work products by appropriate persons;
- ensure that the Support System design meets all statutory regulatory requirements;
- maintain the Support System design and its documentation in accordance with the applicable configuration management, change management and traceability processes; and
- ensure systems development undertaken on the project meet current statutory regulations and is in line with current company systems practices and approved plans and processes
- Provide recommendations to inform decisions within the scope of Support System development and potentially those that affect the design of the Platform, Transverse or Combat System, which will be referred to the appropriate Design Authority as necessary
- Mentor Support System Delivery teams where technical knowledge requires further development to aid both personal and program growth and awareness
About YOU
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Tertiary Qualified in an applicable Technical Field
- Overall, a minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role such as:
- Support Engineering experience across various disciplines with relevant experience in developing designs, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of solutions, its integration, validation and qualification testing
- Relevant exposure to Support Engineering practice in an Australian Defence environment
- Experience in Support Engineering (RAM, LCC, LSA, Level of Repair Analysis, Provisioning analysis, Testability analysis, technical writing or training)
- Experience in program management or engineering management and or technical leadership across complex programs
- The ability to solve problems and resolve issues of a complex nature
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information and coordinate activities across various teams
- Leadership qualities to motivate and guide teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment whilst building sustainable relationships
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, unexpected challenges, and dynamic shipyard environments
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to achieve common goals and objectives
- Ability to obtain and maintain relevant Defence Clearances
