About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an opportunity for an Occupational Health Nurse to join our team based at our Osborne Naval Shipyard Offices, SA. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.
In this newly created Permanent Part Time role, as the Occupational Health Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering the onsite Health Centre services to ensure delivery of quality Occupational Health, Medical and Emergency care to all employees and business partners on site.
This is a Job Share Position on a Rotating Roster and your days and hours would be a 5 day afternoon fortnight:
Roster 1 - First Week:
- Wednesday, Thursday (15:00 hours – 23.30 Hours).
- Friday (11.30 – 19.00 Hours).
Roster 2 - Second Week:
- Thursday (15:00 hours – 23:30 Hours).
- Friday – (15:00 hours - 22:30 hours).
You will be responsible for:
- Implementation of the Early Intervention Program, Injury Management treatment protocols/ plans to administer first aid treatment, review, assess and retreat to support optimum recovery of injured employees supporting their physical and psychosocial needs.
- Monitor the health status of all employees through pre-employment medical screening, task related periodical health monitoring to comply with legislative requirements.
- Ensure the Health Centre meets all legislative requirements and adheres to them including Poisons Permit governance, Medication Standing Orders, Workers Compensation legislation and Worksafe regulatory requirements.
- Provide initial assessment of injuries and illness reported by employees which can lead to early diagnosis and facilitate early recovery for work and non-work-related injury or illness.
- Record injuries reported by workers and any associated incident in the BAE Systems Australia electronic injury management database.
- Assist the SHE Team with health promotion education activities on employment and lifestyle issues for all personnel.
- Coordinate medical appointments for injured workers with appropriate medical professionals, accompany injured worker when required.
About YOU
- Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Essential).
- Relevant Occupational Health Nursing experience and/ or Emergency Nursing experience.
- Registered General Nurse with current registration with AHPRA.
- At least 5 years post registration experience.
- Must be able to work autonomously.
- Current CPR certificate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced Life Support qualification (desirable).
- Accredited Drug and Alcohol Testing certification (desirable).
- Audiometric Testing Certification (desirable).
