About the OPPORTUNITY
We are currently looking for a Senior Management Accountant & Management accountant to join our finance team based in Flinders Street, Adelaide SA, reporting to the Accounting Manager – Cost Base.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering financial support and advice to the corporate functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes.
As a Senior Management Accountant, you will also have additional responsibilities, including the consolidation and delivery of key financial reports, providing guidance to other team members, fostering their development, and promoting a collaborative team environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly management report for Head of Finance & Functional Chiefs and Leads - including insightful variance analysis commentary & early identification of early risks and opportunities within functional spending.
- Accountable for accurate and timely month end closure, including accruals, prepayments, cost allocations, identifying areas of further investigation & corrective actions are established and completed.
- Collaborate with functional leads to develop and monitor budget and forecast. Work with Accounting Manager to perform comprehensive reviews and challenge assumptions to ensure updates are realistic and justifiable.
- Prepare and update forecasts to provide an accurate picture of future financial performance. Monitor forecast accuracy and adjust projections as necessary.
- Provide financial guidance to functional leads and other stakeholders on financial matters, supporting decisions that align with the company's objectives.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance financial processes and systems. Implement efficiency improvements to streamline financial workflows and reduce transactional workload.
- Assist the Accounting Manager in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and the correct accounting treatment is applied across the central cost base.
About YOU
- A degree qualification
- Completed CPA Australia or CA
- Demonstrated experience in management accounting or public practice environment
- Highly developed skills in analysis and interpretation of financial results
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to take ownership of task and embrace change
- Strong stakeholder management skills with high level of personal integrity, initiative and motivation
