About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Material Coordinator to join our Maritime Sustainment Program based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Procurement & Subcontracts Manager.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing any issues related to the flow of materials
- Ensuring Production are supplied with materials in a timely manner to meet schedules
- Liaising with a broad range of stakeholders across functions including Shipyard Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain Planning, Engineering, Quality, Planning and Facilities to resolve any Supply Chain issue affecting the Production effort. (Inclusive of material shortages, missing material OQE expedition, material substitutions via Engineering, additional or replacement material requirements and any other Yard safety implications impeding material supply)
- Understanding and interpreting MRP reporting, chairing meetings to discuss material shortage issues with a variety of stakeholders
- Understanding, interpreting and managing inventory and coordinate the movement of materials between the Warehouse and yard to meet the production and yard logistics schedules
- Undertaking periodic 'Data Integrity' checks as directed by line leader within the relevant ERP database system following company policies and procedures
- Working in a safe manner in accordance with ASCSB policies and procedures, to prevent injury and/or illness to self, co-workers, visitors and contractors
- Administration tasks including filing, maintaining registers and document retention
- Providing Reports and performing ad-hoc data analysis to drive business performance and cost reduction outcomes through common processes, procedures, systems, reporting and KPIs
- Supporting the development of scorecards including metrics definition, target setting and results measurement
- Supporting the development and implementation of material control continuous improvement initiatives to improve operations
- Ability to be rostered on the call out roster for after hours and weekend work
About YOU
- Demonstrated experience in a Material Controller or Production liaison position within supply chain or similar heavy manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in specific trade skills (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding).
- Exposure to shipbuilding and sustainment (highly desirable)
- Analytical, inquisitive and logical with a continuous improvement mind-set
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Computer literacy, with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite. Familiarity with tools like SharePoint and Oracle.
- Previous experience in using Enterprise Resourcing Planning (ERP) systems
- Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
