About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunity for Production Planning Delivery Lead to join our SSN AUKUS business based at Adelaide CBD, SA.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as hybrid working and 9-day fortnight working arrangement.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for managing team resourcing and performance, developing planning capabilities, and providing subject matter expertise for bids and tenders whilst maintaining standardisation and consistent implementation of best practices and standard procedures across the Business Unit or functional planning domain.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for establishing the production planning function and resourcing the team in alignment with program requirements
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to team managers, ensuring consistent application of processes for budget and cost management across production planning
- Lead the transition of the UK Submarines Production Planning system of work to Australia, ensuring alignment across the program
- Manage interfaces with Project Planning and Leads to plan, allocate, and reconcile scope, budget, and materials required to execute the planned scope in alignment with the agreed Build Strategy, Project Plan, Master Production Schedule, and Production Detail Plans
- Manage the development of production budgets based on allocation of business norms and review/endorse overall project strategy on behalf of production planning input to build strategy documents ensuring best practices
- Define the standard best practices to be deployed for the creation and maintenance of Production Schedules/ Production Detail Plans including techniques, such as Gantt Charts, Logic, Resource Scheduling, Milestone Scheduling and Baseline Control
- Establish standard processes, deploy to Production Planning Managers teams and ensure all quality Hold and Test points are planned in accordance with the Project Quality Plan and ITP (Inspection Test Plan)
- Collaborate effectively to develop and maintain good relationships with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and industry partners to maintain a positive culture
- Demonstrate visual leadership and compliance with the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Management System, mitigating risks and improving overall SHE performance
- Support Lifecycle Management LCM process and manages the Production Planning Managers to provide relevant production Planning artefacts for design and phase reviews
About YOU
- Demonstrated experience in production, scheduling/production planning preferably in the heavy engineering industry
- Demonstrated understanding of Quality and Configuration control with an ability to make independent judgments and decision relation to the planners' circle of influence
- A thorough understanding of “Best Practice” planning and scheduling processes, systems and tools
- Well-developed self-management skill with an ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality to safeguard and protect sensitive information
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements with appropriate stakeholder management
- Engineering or Project Management qualification is desirable
